Euroformat launches lift door production under Fermator licence
In mid-April 2018, Euroformat welcomed Fermator Group CEO Eduard Gomis from Spain. This was Mr Gomis’s second visit to the Euroformat factory following his first trip in 2017, and its strategic purpose was to finalise plans for the joint production of lift equipment, particularly automatic lift doors. The cooperation marked an important stage in the development of Euroformat’s international partnerships and manufacturing capabilities.
History of the partnership and purpose of the meeting
Eduard Gomis’s visit to Ukraine was intended to conclude negotiations that had begun earlier at the Interlift international exhibition in Germany. During that meeting, representatives of Euroformat and Fermator Group discussed the potential for cooperation combining Fermator technology with the manufacturing capabilities of the Ukrainian factory. The negotiations resulted in an agreement to launch a new production line at Euroformat for automatic lift doors manufactured under a Fermator licence.
The meeting between Fermator Group CEO Eduard Gomis and Euroformat CEO Ihor Tkachenko allowed the companies to finalise the main details required to launch the new production line. The project combines Fermator technology with Euroformat’s manufacturing capacity and creates additional opportunities for producing modern lift components.
Prospects for cooperation
Eduard Gomis spoke positively about the prospects of working with Euroformat. In his comments, he noted: «We are pleased that we were able to convince Mr Tkachenko to use Fermator lift door operators in Euroformat production. The negotiations we began several months ago at the Interlift exhibition in Germany demonstrated significant potential for both companies. The lift market in post-Soviet countries, including Ukraine, offers considerable opportunities, particularly in the modernisation and replacement of ageing equipment. Through our partnership with a major Ukrainian lift manufacturer, we have an opportunity to develop our presence in this market. Cooperation with Euroformat can become an example of a mutually beneficial partnership».
For Fermator Group, the partnership provides additional opportunities in the Ukrainian market, while Euroformat gains access to modern automatic door technologies for passenger, goods and other types of lifts.
New production line and testing
At the time of the visit, the first batches of jointly produced doors were already undergoing testing at the Euroformat factory. This stage was necessary to verify product quality and compliance with the required technical specifications. Once testing and production set-up were completed, serial manufacturing was expected to begin. From 1 June 2018, the first large batch of the new automatic lift doors was scheduled to be ready for shipment to customers.
The doors manufactured under the Fermator licence are equipped with appropriate door operators and are intended for use in Euroformat passenger, goods and hospital lifts. Local production of these components expands the factory’s manufacturing capabilities and supports a higher level of in-house product integration.
Fermator Group: a global manufacturer of lift doors
Fermator Group is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of automatic lift doors. The Spanish company supplies products to more than 90 countries, operates production facilities in France, Italy, Poland, Greece, India, China and Brazil, and manufactures more than 600,000 doors annually. Fermator products are widely used across the international lift equipment market and are manufactured in accordance with established quality and safety requirements. The partnership with Fermator became an important step for Euroformat in developing its production base and international cooperation.
